Legends Spotlight: Molly Hanson.

The 2023-24 soccer season has hit its halfway point. So, we thought it would be fun to take a moment and get to know a couple of our talented student-athletes.

Legends' goalkeeper Molly Hanson took a moment to answer some questions and tell us about her love of soccer and what it is like being a student-athlete at Alexandria College.

What got you interested in soccer, and why do you enjoy playing the game?

Back in my Freshman year of high school, a friend talked to me about joining soccer and told me it was like hockey. Hockey was the main sport I played. The only thing she was right about comparing the two was the competitiveness. I am a very competitive person, and I enjoy being on a team and making friends along the way.

Do you follow professional soccer? If yes, who is your favorite team, and why? 

I like to follow along with any of the professional women's games on tv. I don't have a favorite team. I enjoy watching any of the women's teams and learning different skill sets.

What is your favorite food and why?

My favorite food would have to be spaghetti. My dad makes the best, and it's such a great comfort food and a great before and after-game meal.

As a student-athlete, what are some of the challenges of balancing being a student and an athlete?

Some of the challenges would be missing class for a game and just missing material, but I have great teachers who are great to work with when missing a day. Also, just make sure I get my homework done before practice.

What do you enjoy about being a student at ATCC and playing soccer for the college?

I love being a student at ATCC because of the community. We have a great community here within the school. I feel like I know everyone and feel connected within the school. Playing soccer for the college is amazing. I get to be a part of a brand-new team and to hopefully build a team that will flourish for years to come.

Would you rather have a shoe or an award named after you?

I would rather have a shoe named after me, because it would be cool to be a part of the design process and to see others enjoy them.

What is your favorite Legends color (red, black, white, or grey)?

I think my favorite Legends color would have to be Red, but I also love the addition of Black. Those colors need to be our next uniform colors.
