Legends open season strong at home
Alexandria fell 2-1 to Lake Superior in home, season opener
Emily Starr (Sauk Rapids) scored the first-ever goal for women's Legends Soccer on Wednesday during their home and season opener versus Lake Superior College. The goal would put the Legends in the lead in the first half.
Despite being forced to play short due to injuries, including Hailey Kramer who came off the field following a collision going for a header, the Legends played hard the entire game. Ultimately Lake Superior had a strong second half and the Legends fell 2-1.
"A lot of character was shown by the entire team," said Coach Tom Roos. "We had really strong performances in goal by Molly Hanson (Fargo) and Defender Celis Victoria (Willmar)."
The Legends Women's Soccer team competes next on the road at University of Minnesota, Morris on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 2:30 p.m.
The Legends compete again at home on Sept. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Alexandria High School Stadium against Riverland Community College.
