French, team finish third at Jimmie Spring Swing
Legends pick up third in difficult conditions.
Jayme French made up ground on day two of the Jimmie Spring Swing at Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames, Iowa, to finish the March 28-29 tournament in third place. Despite difficult weather conditions, the Legends men's golfers finished with three individuals in the top 20 and placed third overall.
"I played both days in a group with the player that took first place," French said. "I was hitting the ball well. If I had't, it would have been a long two days."
French finished with an 8-over 150, just 1 stroke behind second place and three strokes away from first. Lukas Justesen closed day one in first place, but finished the tournament in 11th place with a 158. Connor Josephson placed 19th with a 164.
"Weather condition's were not ideal. Both days were blowing 25-plus mph and about freezing temps," Justesen said. "The first day went really well. I was playing great and I finished with a 70, and was tied for first going into day 2. I think everyone on the team battled through the weather conditions."
The teams placed third out of seven teams behind host team University of Jamestown and Hastings College.
Abby Hamman finished the tournament tied for sixth for the women, golfing an 86 and a 90.
