Legends Fishing team lands top 15% finish in Leesburg, FL

Members of the Legends Competitive Fishing team escaped the frozen north and headed to Leesburg, Florida for the Major League Fishing Abu Garcia Harris Chain of Lakes competition on January 20, 2023.
233 teams competed in the event, with 211 teams weighing in. Legends teams both posted in the top third of the final results, with Huewe and Krampitz in the top 15 percent. Legends competitors included:
Team 1:
- Logan Huewe, Business Management, Zimmerman, MN
- Walker Krampitz, Welding Technology, Waseca, MN
Team 2:
- Jackson Baker, Marine, Motorcycle, & Powersports Technician, Cokato, MN
- Thomas Parker, Marine, Motorcycle, & Powersports Technician, Delano, MN
Huewe and Krampitz finished 38th (top 15%) with five fish totaling 13 pounds 9 ounces. Baker and Parker finished 74th (top 30%) with five fish totaling 11 pounds 5 ounces.
"Felt good to leave the frozen tundra and head south to Florida. It was an awesome experience representing Alexandria College down south along with fixing the itch for some big green ones," Huewe said in an Instagram post.
Participating teams included students from universities, private colleges, and community colleges from across the country, with many hailing from the southern United States. Alexandria College and UW-Platteville were the only two colleges from the upper Midwest to break the top 50.
