His assistant coach for the team is Brandon Richards (right), the 2022-2023 eSports head coach, and they are gearing up and getting ready for the 2023-2024 season. Brodie took a moment to answer some questions on his new role at the college:
What was it like being a student on the eSports team and now being the head coach?
"Playing on the eSports team was my favorite part about student life at Alexandria Tech," Cariveau said. "With this new opportunity of being head coach, I will hopefully be able to give a memorable experience to the students, and am excited to see this program thrive."
What are your favorite games to play, and what do you like about them?
"Currently, my favorite game to play is Rocket League," Cariveau said. "The main thing that keeps me coming back time and time again is the way that rank is obtained; it is completely based on your skill. The competitive aspect of the game is very addicting, and watching the professionals play is always very inspiring."
What are your goals for the team?
"As a team, we have a goal of making Alexandria Technical and Community College the heart of eSports for the surrounding area," Cariveau said. "We have a couple of awesome and generous sponsors that are willing to help us get tournaments set up alongside spectacular staff members."
What would you like ATCC students to know?
"We want to ensure that our students know that we have an eSports program, and not to be afraid to contact me at esports@alextech.edu with any questions!" Cariveau said.
