The Alexandria Technical and Community College Legends Archery Team made an impressive debut at the First Annual Buena Vista Invitational on November 9, 2024.
The tournament, hosted at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, marked the official start of the Legends' archery season and was the first-ever collegiate archery competition for all three participating Legends archers.
Competing against archers from Buena Vista College, Coe College, and Grand View College, the Legends faced tough competition in a field of 28 archers across four divisions: Compound, Fixed Pin, Recurve, and Barebow. The event followed USA Archery and World Archery regulations, with each archer shooting 20 rounds of three arrows for a maximum possible score of 600 points.
Legend Archer Andrew Pritchard secured 2nd place overall in the Compound division with a score of 560/600. His performance set a high bar for the Legends in their first tournament. Legends Archer Ella Miller competed in the Fixed Pin Compound Women's division. Miller finished in 7th place with a score of 498/600, showcasing consistency and focus in her first collegiate event. Allison Hart also competed in the Fixed Pin Compound Women's division. She earned a 9th-place finish with a score of 474/600, rounding out a commendable showing for the Legends.
The tournament provided invaluable experience for the team, as all three archers made their competitive debuts. The Legends showed great promise and resilience, competing admirably in an event that tested precision, skill, and mental fortitude. The Legends will look to build on their success as the season continues.
