Alexandria Technical and Community College is proud to announce Brandon Hill as the new head coach of the Legends Baseball team. Former Head Coach Jason Fischer is stepping into the role of coordinator of baseball advancement for the college.
Hill brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success at various levels of the sport. The 2024-25 season marks his first season as the Legends head coach, this is his fourth season overall coaching at the collegiate level. Previously, Hill served as the pitching coach for the Legends, where he guided the pitching staff to achieve second place in the nation for strikeouts per game and helped five Legends pitchers advance to the Division II level. His dedication and expertise in player development have been instrumental in the team's recent successes.
"We are thrilled to have Brandon Hill step into the role of Head Coach," said Legends Athletic Director, Carly Erickson. "His commitment to player relationships and development, combined with his extensive knowledge of the game, make him the perfect leader for our baseball program."
Hill's coaching journey began at an early age. In 2017, at 19 years old, he was named Head Coach of VFW Post 1656 in his hometown of Madison, Minn., leading the program for three seasons. In the first year, Hill led Madison to their first and only state tournament appearance in the program's history.
From 2018 to 2020, Hill was an assistant coach at Minnesota State-Fergus Falls. During his first year with the team, the Spartans set a program record with 32 wins. Hill currently coaches with the Minnesota Swing Kings, an elite travel-ball organization based out of St. Cloud, Minn. He is entering his fifth year as a coach and private instructor for the Swing Kings, working alongside Caleb Curry.
Hill's playing career is equally impressive. He played collegiately as a pitcher and shortstop for the Minnesota State-Fergus Falls Spartans from 2015-2017, earning all-conference honors and being named Team Captain in his sophomore season. In high school, Hill was a 4-year starter at Lac qui Parle Valley High School, earning accolades such as Minnesota All-Star, Conference MVP, All-State First Team, and setting the school record for earned run average. Hill continues to play amateur baseball for the Madison Mallards in his hometown of Madison, Minn.
With Hill at the helm, the Alexandria College Legends Baseball team is on track for continued success and growth. Hill's passion for the game, dedication to his players, and drive to keep learning every day ensure a bright future for the Legends.
"I'm incredibly excited for this opportunity to lead a team with an established culture of success and work alongside a college that's shown such a tremendous amount of support for our baseball program the last two seasons," said Brandon Hill, the Legends Baseball team's new head coach. "My goal for the team is to not only build off our previous success but to raise the standard for this level of baseball in our area. The goals of our program align directly with our school in consistently working to grow, evolve, and achieve greatness."
