Clay Target team third in fall championship

More than 200 participants from 14 colleges converged in Alexandria.

The Legends Clay Target team took third place in the 2021 MCAC Fall Championship.

More than 200 participants from 14 colleges converged in Alexandria for the MCAC Clay Target Fall Championship, held Tuesday, October 19 at Alexandria Shooting Park.

Bismarck (ND) State College took first place in the championship with a total of 487 points. Alexandria College and Ridgewater College were close behind, tied for second place with 480 points each. The Legends lost out to Ridgewater in the tiebreaker, landing in third place overall.

Clay Target shooters compete Alexandria College student Kiah Martinson of Bemidji, who has been a key competitor in the Legends Clay Target program since its inaugural 2019 season, shot 98 X 100 in the championship with a reverse run of 74 to secure the Female Varsity High Gun title. Megan Jensen of Comfrey took the Female Jr. Varsity High Gun title with a total score of 89 X 100.

Legends Clay Target totaled 2,413.50 points throughout the regular season, earning runner-up in the Red Division. Martinson earned the Women's Division Individual title with a season average of 47.40 out of 50. Jonathan Hosaluk of Roseau earned third place in the Men's Division Individual standings with a season average of 48.80 out of 50.

Hosaluk shot three 50-straights throughout the regular season, the most out of any shooter in the MCAC. Tanner Mord and Zach Johnson also shot 50-straights. Legends in the 25-straight club include Will Burgess, Tyler Driver, Andrew Gallagher, Kyle Hagen, Jonathan Hosaluk, Zach Johnson, Kiah Martinson, Tanner Mord, Draven Schillinger, and Max Strege.

The fall championship marks the end of the 2021 season.
